The NGO Federation of Nepal
Basic Operational Guidelines for
It's Members Organizations
NGO Federation of Nepal is the one
and only umbrella organization of non-governmental
organizations in Nepal with more than 2,600 organizations
as its members. These operational guidelines have
been prepared with the objective to make it more convenient
for the NGOs to perform their activities in fair,
transparent, pro-people and easy way. These guidelines
are based on the national and international universal
principles and on the NGO Code of Conduct implemented
by the Federation.
- We will conduct our activities
with complete commitment to human rights, sustainable
development, peoples participation and values
and ethics of universal democracy.
- Our activities and actions will
be transparent to all the concerned parties.
- We will perform our activities
in a fair manner, irrespective of individual preference
for caste, religion, sect, gender and political
creed.
- We will not provide any kinds
of donations, transport facility, equipment or other
facilities to organizations established with a political
objective or affiliated with political parties,
groups or organizations, to further their political,
military or communal motives.
- We call upon all sides to abide
by national and international laws of human rights
which are considered most effective at a time of
internal conflict and humanitarian crisis.
- We are convinced that our members
who are working in the sector of social development
and human rights will have to face no kind of violence,
abduction, harassment, fear or any other kind of
inhuman treatment. If such incidents occur, we will
protest against it on the basis of provisions under
international human rights.
- We are convinced that we will
be able to reach the general public, as required
by the people and work for their welfare in an independent
way, without any obstructions.
- We are committed to providing
significant contribution to the development of Nepal,
maintaining partnership and coordination with all
concerned. We believe that the prevalent questions
of poverty, discrimination and marginalization can
only be addressed when there is restoration of peace
in the country.
- Our members, office-bearers and
social workers will work with humanitarian service
and support for the preservation of human rights
as their priority.
According to the guidelines
stated above the NGO Federation of Nepal requests
all regional and district committees, focal points
and member organizations to carry out human rights,
social service and other social welfare activities
on a regular basis. The Federation appeals with all
the concerned parties to provide necessary support
to function according to the operational guidelines
mentioned above.
