Women and Inclusion
The Women
and Inclusion Department (WID) aims to promote gender,
caste, ethnicity and geographic inclusion within NFN
and in the structure of its member NGOs. It also works
towards the observance by the State of justice and
equity for all. The WID strives to empower women,
dalits, janaloti and people from marginalized communities
and capacitate them to assert their rights and influence
decisions. It primarily works with the AND, and also
with other departments, for the effective advocacy
and promotion of inclusion. Some of ifs major activities
include:
- Facilitating training,
workshops, orientations and discussion sessions
on gender equity, inclusion, women empowerment,
and on gender, caste and class based discrimination
- Reviewing and following
up on NEN policies and programmes
- Enhancing the access of
women to decision-making through lobbying and advocacy
- Lobbying sister organizations
of all political parties, NGOs and other social
groups for the meaningful participation and involvement
of women in policy and decision making
- Assessing the governance
especially of NGOs led by women and facilitating
class, caste, ethnicity and geographical inclusion
- Media campaigning to educate
the broader population of women and to end all sorts
of violence against women including domestic violence
and dowry related violence
- Lobbying to ensure the
participation of women and to enhance their roles
and responsibilities in the transitional phase and
post-conflict scenario
- Lobbying and building international,
national and local networks to guarantee the socio-political
and economic rights of women and under privileged
groups
