Research and Communication
The main aim of the Research and
Communication Department (RCD) is to commission action
research, unearth issues and make recommendations
for action. Research findings will be used to launch
advocacy campaigns, policy change initiatives and
influence national governance. Hence, the RCD communicates
its concerns to all NFN departments. The RCD also
feeds the AND with issues for advocacy and networking.
The RCD delivers knowledge and learning to develop
capacity-building products and suggests the timely
review and amendment of national policies and laws.
The main activities of the RCD include:
- Conducting research on
the socio-political situation of the country in
areas such as poverty, human rights, peace and policy
initiatives of the state, political parties, civil
society organizations and other various national,
regional and international issues
- Enhancing a database of
NGOs and NGO members with membership management
information systems
- Establishing a database
management information system and finance management
information system
- Updating district NGO profiles
- Strengthening RCs as IEC
centres
- Continuing regular and
occasional publications based on research and social
surveys
- Roster preparation and
updating human resources
- Developing and enforcing
media and communication strategies
- Maintaining and updating
a list of references on emerging issues
- Updating documentations
of member NGOs, best practices, media cover stories
and district chapter events
- Establishing and maintaining
communication in local, national, regional and international
arenas
