Capacity Building and Institutional Development
 

The objective of the Capacity Building and NGO Governance Reform Department is to build the capacity of NGO members, their personnel and other stakeholders at the local, regional and national levels and contribute in governance reform within the organisational operations and public life. NFN, through this department, launches campaigns for NGO governance reform particuTarly focusing on transparency, accountability and organizational rule of law. With this central thrust, NFN has already engaged in working closely with NGOs/CBOs to enhance their capacity to build and implement policies and systems necessary for promoting and institutionalising good governance within their operations. Other activities NFN plans to facilitate under this department include:

  • Developing, adopting and implementing good governance policies and systems
  • Campaigning for NGO governance reform, particularly for transparency, accountability and intra-organisational rule of law
  • Producing and disseminating educational materials on institutional good governance
  • Conducting public hearing activities on governance reform
  • Introducing public audit system with in member organisations
  • Developing training manuals and facilitating capacity building activities
  • Developing issue and sector specific human resources
  • Conducting regular monitoring, follow-up and refresher trainings
  • Developing advocacy skills
