The people of Rajpur, Bela and Koilabas VDCs of Dang district are reported to have been troubled, terrorized and displaced by the Indian border security forces. Along with the border encroachment, their insolent treatment of the Nepalese along the border has reached to its worst in the last a few weeks hurting the nationality of Nepal and its people. This action has drawn the grave concern of NGO Federation of Nepal. The Indian security personnel shifting the dividing pillars of the two countries into Nepalese territory have pushed us and other civil society organizations to deep sadness.
NGO Federation of Nepal extends deep sympathy and solidarity to the people who have been displaced and homeless in this hot and rainy season and the season most important for farmers.
The people along the border have been compelled to face this kind of foreign intervention for years albeit it is the duty and responsibility of the state and government to secure the life and property of its citizens and manage for food and shelter. Unfortunately, the government has not taken any effective measure even though many days have elapsed. It is high time that the government, Constituent Assembly, and the political parties came up with a common national position to maintain peace and security and for the permanent solution of the problems along the border.
On this backdrop, NGO Federation of Nepal strongly demands with the concerned parties to take some immediate and strong measures for the lasting solution of the problems in the bordering areas. The life and property of the people must be secured and their fundamental rights to settle and live safely and peacefully must be ensured.
