The Grand Opening of SDGs Action Week on the occasion of 4th Anniversary of SDGs kicks off in Kathmandu on 21st September. This is the joint action of the National Planning Commission, Nepal SDGs Forum and like-minded civil society organizations in Nepal. Honorable chairman of National Assembly Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina joined the ceremony as the chief guest. "Behavior changes are the key to achieving the SDGs. In Nepal, SDGs can only be achieved with the strong collaboration of 3 tires of governments, civil society organizations and private institutions", said the chief guest in his remarks. NHRC Member Honorable Mohana Ansari shared her views on SDGs in the ceremony. The government officials, CSOs leaders, Medias and Youth leaders from diversebackgroundparticipated in the program. Mr. Jitrama Lama, president at NFN said that CSOs have played a huge role in achieving the SDGs by 2030. He further asked collaboration and partnerships among all the stakeholders to make the SDGs happen within its timeframe. Youth leader Mr. Naren Khatiwada focused on youth engagement for sustainable development goals. There were thematic panel discussions on lifelong learning, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 and Humanitarian Actions on Disaster.

After the event, the participants took part in the Candle Lightning program to celebrate the International Day of Peace at Matighar Mandala, Kathmandu. The aim of the Candle Lightning program was to spread the message of peace around the world. The participants in the candle lightning program delivered the message to stand together for peace because each individual in this world deserves to live in peace.

Nepal SDGs Forum is celebrating the SDGs Action Week from 20 to 27 September by organizing various activities.
