NGO Federation of Nepal
(NFN)
The genesis of NGO federation
of Nepal(NFN) is the result of constant struggle of
civil society organizations in nepal. Established
in 1991 for the promotion and protection of social
justice, human rights and pro-poor development, NFN
has evolved as a national organization that works
for the entire NGO movement in Nepal.
NFN is a democratic organization
run by a team of NGo professionals who volunteer their
services to achieve the vision of NFN. It is an autonomous,
independent and politically non-partisan organization,
governed by its own constitution. It has prepared
and enforced a Code of Conduct (CoC) to increase accountability
and transparency of NGO's in their operations. The
CoC has been widely disseminated to its member NGO's
and efforts are going on to observe its compliance

PM Prachanda adresses the 63rd UN General Assembly

Mr. President,
Mr. Secretary General,
Excellencies,
Distinguished Delegates,
1. At the outset, allow me to congratulate you on your election as the President of this Assembly and to assure you of my delegation's full cooperation in discharging your responsibilities. I also thank the UN Secretary-General for his comprehensive report on the work of the UN and his positive reference to the situation obtaining in Nepal.
Mr. President,
2. It is indeed a historic opportunity for me to address this august Assembly as the first Prime Minister of Nepal of the newest republic of the world. As I stand here in front of the global leadership, I think of the long struggle that I and my party waged with single mindedness for the liberation of the common man from the clutches of the age-old suppression, deprivation, marginalization and outright negligence of the then existing polity. My fellow countrymen and women, toiling in the mountains and valleys, working day and night in the low lands and the urban areas and yet unable to ensure even the simple necessities of life for his or her family had a hope and expectation that one day they would lead a decent life with equal rights and opportunities and Read full Speech >>

Memorandum to Prime Minister from Civil Society
7th September, 2008 
A nine points memorandum letter demanding the assurance for economic, social and cultural rights of People in new constitution and for the effectiveness of government has been handed over to Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) on behalf of Civil Society in the leadership of Dr. Arjun Karki, President of NGO Federation of Nepal and Civil Society leaders on 7th September, 2008. Receiving the memorandum from Civil Society PM assured that the memorandum letter would be a supportive document to the government to include in government's policy and program to be promulgated. Appreciating the role of civil society in past days he expressed the hope that civil society will play a vital role in future days too. |

Society Forum on Peace, Development and
Foreign Aid: Civil Society Concerns
(14-15 February 2008 Kathmandu)
Right a week before
the start of Nepal Donors Coordination
Meeting (NDCM) by the government of Nepal,
the civil society organizations (CSOs)
of Nepal have scheduled a civil society
forum (CSF) on Peace, Development and
Foreign Aid: Civil Society Concerns for
14 and 15 February 2008 in Kathmandu.
The forum, organised by the CSOs working
in various fields including democracy,
human rights, peace, development and constitutional
issues, and coordinated by the NGO Federation
of Nepal (NFN), is aimed at bringing the
concerns of the grassroots people together
with dalit, janajati, women, people with
different abilities, geographically disadvantaged,
poor peasants and squatters, workers,
youths and other marginalised groups on
people's perspectives in the peace process
and the development priority in changing
political context of Nepal and providing
inputs and feedbacks to the NDCM scheduled
for 20-22 February 2008. |
